Why is it So Difficult to Get a Good Job After Age 50 After Being Laid Off?

Unfortunately we live in a world where economy has its ups and downs, prices keep getting higher and salaries keep decreasing. In this world, people that are over 50 can't find a good job because every employer is looking to hire young people that are trying to make a name for themselves.

One of the reasons why it is so difficult to get a good job after age 50 after being laid off is that once you've reached that age, you also acquired a lot of experience and you can ask for more money. Employers these days would rather neglect experience in order to hire a younger individual that would work a bit less. Also, employers are basing their hiring strategies on a young person's need to assert them self and become good in a specific area of expertise.

It is widely believed that a young person's vitality will make a difference and it will definitely compensate for the lack of experience. Unfortunately, when we're talking about a tougher job, that's hardly the case; an inexperienced person is far more likely to crack under the pressure than an older, mature person. But employers choose to neglect that fact and continue to lay off people over the age of 50 and hire younger people, probably on their first job, that will work for a lot less money.

Why is it so difficult to get a good job after age 50 after being laid off? Unfortunately the answer is simple and cruel. Employers don't think about that person's needs and financial difficulties. Everybody's out to get people that will work more for less money, and a person who works at a company for many years will have already had his salary increased several times.
